Overview
The GRN PutAway feature marks the final stage in the inbound inventory process, where received goods are systematically placed into their designated storage locations (bins) within the warehouse. Once a GRN is created against an incoming Purchase Order, it serves as confirmation that the items have been received, checked, and are ready to be stored.
Putaway can be done using both web and android devices. In this article, we will discuss how to use putaway feature using android device.
Use Case
Scenario:
An e-commerce seller has placed a bulk purchase order for 500 units of wireless earbuds from a supplier. The shipment arrives at the warehouse and needs to be systematically received and stored.

How the GRN Put-Away Feature Helps:
- Goods Received:
The warehouse team unloads the items and verifies the shipment against the Purchase Order. A GRN (Goods Receipt Note) is generated in the system to acknowledge successful receipt. - Inventory Inspection:
Items are checked for damage, quantity, and compliance. Only accepted items are cleared for storage. - Putaway Triggered:
Upon GRN confirmation, the Putaway process is initiated. For regular inventory, the system suggests optimal bin locations based on SKU, product category, and available bin space. For QC-failed inventory, the system displays a suggested Bin based on the applicable Inventory Status and bin-suggestion logic. - Bin Allocation & Placement:
Warehouse staff use handheld devices or terminals to locate suggested bins and scan items into those locations, updating the system in real-time. - Inventory Sync:
Stock levels are updated across all channels - such as the seller's website, Amazon, Flipkart, or any other connected marketplaces, ensuring immediate product availability for sale.
Backend Settings Required
1. "continuousPutAwaySetting": 1
This setting enables the continuous scan mode for serialized accounts.
2. "DirectedBinSuggestion": 1
This setting enables Bin Suggestion for Putaway.
3. "QcFailPutAway": 1
This setting enables Putaway for QC-failed inventory.
4. "enableGrnQcFailSerial": 1
This setting enables GRN QC Fail for serialized inventory.
5. "newPutAwayAndroid": 1
This setting enables QC Fail Putaway on Android devices.

GRN Putaway Flowchart
WorkFlow
Step 1: Go to android > For putaway > GRN Putaway
GRNs are displayed under separate tabs based on QC status:
- QC Pass
- Damaged
- Repair
- Quarantine
Step 2: Select the GRN ID you wish to complete the putaway of.
Note: GRNs can be searched using SKU code or GRN ID across all tabs.
For Non- Serialized Account
Step 1: Scan the SKU/EAN/UoM/QR
Step 2: After the SKU is scanned,
If the Bin Suggestion is ON, the system will directly route you to the Batch Selection Page and then ask you to scan the suggested Bin. For QC-failed inventory, the suggested Bin is based on the applicable Inventory Status and bin-suggestion logic. Only Bad Zone bins are allowed for QC-failed inventory; Good Zone bins cannot be used.
Step 3: Scan the Bin
Step 4: Once the details are entered, the GRN putaway will instantly be completed.
If the Bin suggestion is OFF, the system will ask you to scan the Bin first and then route you to the Batch Selection Page.
Step 3: Scan the Bin
Select the Batch Code, Quanity and slide right to complete the Putaway
Once the details are entered, the GRN putaway will be completed.
Serialized Account (with Continuous Scan)
For serialized accounts, continuous scanning will be turned on if the feature is enabled at the backend.This functionality enables you to consecutively scan all serials designated for placement in a single bin.
Step 1: Scan the Bin
If Bin Suggestion is enabled, the system displays a suggested Bin for Putaway. For QC-failed inventory, the suggested Bin is based on the applicable Inventory Status and bin-suggestion logic. Only Bad Zone bins are allowed for QC-failed inventory; Good Zone bins cannot be used.
Step 2: Scan the Serial
Step 3: After the serial is scanned, the GRN putaway will instantly complete.
Serialized Account (without Continuous Scan)

If the Bin Suggestion setting is ON, the system displays a suggested Bin for Putaway. For QC-failed inventory, the suggested Bin is based on the applicable Inventory Status and bin-suggestion logic. Only Bad Zone bins are allowed for QC-failed inventory; Good Zone bins cannot be used.
