Overview
The Returns PutAway process is the final step in handling returned items in the warehouse. Once a product is returned—either by the customer or due to failed delivery—it undergoes a series of quality checks and is then eligible to be reintegrated into the inventory. The Returns PutAway feature enables warehouse staff to assign such returned items to their designated bins efficiently and accurately.
PutAway can be done using both web and Android devices. In this article, we will discuss how to use the Returns putaway feature using an Android device.
Use Case
Scenario:
An e-commerce seller receives a return from a customer who ordered a pair of shoes but requested a return due to size mismatch.
How the Returns Put-Away Feature Helps:
Return Received at Warehouse:
The returned product arrives at the seller’s warehouse. A warehouse associate logs the return in the system.
QC Performed:
The item undergoes a quality check to ensure it’s in sellable condition, no damage, tags intact, and original packaging preserved.
Return Approved:
Once approved, the system updates the inventory status from "Returned - Awaiting QC" to "Return Approved for Put-Away."
Putaway Initiated:
Using the Returns Putaway feature, the associate is guided to store the returned item in a designated bin based on the applicable put-away logic. For QC-failed inventory, the system displays a suggested Bin based on the applicable Inventory Status and bin-suggestion logic.
Inventory Sync:
The inventory gets updated in real-time across the seller's backend system and connected marketplaces (like Amazon, Flipkart, etc.), making the product available for resale.
