HHT - Putaway - QC Fail Putaway
Software Plan : Growth & Enterprise
Account Type : Seller Account & Aggregator 3PL
Inventory Type : Serialized
Feature Description
The QC-Fail Putaway feature is designed to handle the storage of items that fail Quality Check during inward processing or after return evaluations. These are products that cannot be moved to the saleable inventory due to defects, damage, or non-compliance with standards. Instead of discarding them immediately, such items are systematically moved to a designated QC-Fail zone or bin within the warehouse for further review, vendor return, or liquidation.
Putaway can be done using both web and android devices. In this article, we will discuss how to use putaway feature using android device.
Use Case
Scenario:
An e-commerce seller receives a consignment of 200 smartwatches from a supplier. During the GRN process, the warehouse team performs quality checks on each unit.
How the QC-Fail Put-Away Feature Helps:
QC Performed During GRN:
While inspecting the items, the team finds that 12 smartwatches have damaged straps or dead screens. These units fail the quality check and cannot be added to the sellable inventory.
QC Status Updated in System:
The failed items are marked as "QC-Failed" in the system with specific failure reasons logged (e.g., "damaged screen").
Put-Away Triggered:
Instead of mixing them with sellable goods, the QC-Fail Put-Away feature prompts the user to move these items to a designated QC-Fail bin or zone.
Storage in QC-Fail Bin:
The staff uses a handheld device or WMS interface to complete the put-away, ensuring traceability of where the defective stock is stored.
Actionable Data for Vendors or Claims:
The seller uses this data to initiate vendor returns, raise claims, or plan stock liquidation.
