Pre-Read Article :  Kitting Manufacturing Process

Use Cases :

Scenario: A warehouse stores cricket kits, each containing a ball, a bat, and a wicket. While they typically sell these kits as a complete set, there are instances where they need to separate the individual items within a kit. This process is known as order de-kitting.

Situation: A customer places an order for individual cricket equipment items (e.g., only a bat or a wicket) rather than a complete kit.

Steps:
Order Identification: The warehouse management system identifies the order requiring de-kitting.
Kit Retrieval: The specific cricket kit is located and retrieved from the warehouse.
De-Kitting Process:
  1. The kit is opened, and the ball, bat, and wicket are carefully separated.
  2. Each item is inspected for any damage or defects.
  3. The individual items are labelled with appropriate SKU numbers or barcodes.
Inventory Update: The warehouse management system is updated to reflect the removal of the kit and the addition of individual items to the inventory.
Order Fulfillment: The required items are picked from the inventory and packed for shipment. The remaining items from the de-kitted kit are returned to inventory.

Outcome:
The customer receives the specific items they ordered.
Inventory accuracy is maintained.
The warehouse is able to fulfill orders for both complete kits and individual items.
