Kitting Manufacturing Process

Kitting Manufacturing Process

Why should retailers create a Kit?

Kitting can be defined as the process where a collection of parts or items are grouped together that has its own SKU number. It can come in handy if you want to increase your sales volume, as it will offer more value to the customer where you can combine a product that has high demand with a low priced or less popular product.
If you have an assembly process and would like to track the Bill of Material (BOM), kitting is the process to do it.
In EasyEcom, you will be able to track the complete BOM requirement for a "finished good" SKU. The system also allows you to track Production Orders which the warehouse can work upon and come up with finished goods inventory from the raw material.

How to create a Kit?

Creating a physical kit in EasyEcom will enable you to sell your products in a bundle on multiple marketplaces while having a better view of your inventory and reducing the search time.

A prerequisite of creating a kit is that all the child SKUs in that kit need to be first created in EasyEcom. You can create a Master SKU for your products on EasyEcom by going on “Masters >> Product Master”.

Once you have created a Master SKU for all the kit components, please follow the below procedure for kit creation.

You can create kits (physical combo) in bulk or one-by-one.

Creating Kits in Bulk

Step 1: In the toggle menu, navigate to “Masters>>Combo Master”

Step 2: Create Physical Combo

On the Combo Master webpage first click on the “Create Combo” button.

Once you click on it Create Combo pop-up will appear:

First select "Physical Combo (Kit) " radio button, and then click on the “Save Template” button.

Once you click on it an excel file will be downloaded in your system.

In this file enter the Parent SKU and its components.

If there are multiple products then enter “&” after the SKU name and then the SKU quantity. Syntax:  “SKU&Quantity”.  For example,if you have an SKU named GreenBottle in the combo which has 5 quantities, the syntax will be “GreenBottle&5”.

Then click on the “Choose File” option to select this file from your system and then upload it by clicking on the “Upload” button.

Step 3: View your Physical Combo

To view your physical combo first click on the “Download Combo” button.

Then click on "Physical Combo (Kit)" button.

Once you click on it your Combo’s excel file will be downloaded in your system.

Creating Kits one-by-one

Step 2: Choose “Add a new Product” option

Once you click on Product Master you will be navigated to the following page:

Click on the “Create Products” button and choose the “Add a new Product” option.

Step 3: Choose “Create Kit Product” option

Select the “Create Kit Product” option, and please fill in the necessary details.

Note that you can either select a category from the ones that you have already created from the drop-down option or create a new category by clicking on the "New" button.

On the same page, please mention all your Kit components here:

And then click on the “Save Product” button.

To view the Kit, go on “Inventory >> Manage Inventory” and search your KIT by writing the SKU name.

You have now successfully created a Physical Kit in EasyEcom.

Editing Combo components

In case you wish to make changes in your kit later on, navigate to "Masters>>Product Master", and click on your Kit's SKU.

Once you click on it you will be navigated to the "Product Info" page.
Here under Child Products category you can add or delete a combo component, and change its quantity listed.

Then click on the "Update" button.
Please note that, editing combos will only affect the new orders that are entered after the editing is completed.
