Overview

Tote-based GRN allows items received through GRN to be assigned to totes and subsequently processed through Tote Putaway. The Tote GRN flow supports USN Types 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, Auto GRN, Serialized accounts, and Non-Serialized accounts.

Required Settings

Backend Configurations:
tote_enabled_grn = 1
For Auto GRN / USN Type 5: QcFailPutAway = 1
Putaway mode is determined by continuousPutAwaySetting

When to Use

Use Tote-based GRN when received items need to be grouped into physical totes during the GRN process before putaway.
A single GRN can use multiple totes, allowing received items to be handled in separate groups. During putaway, a tote can be processed as a complete unit in Drop Mode or item-by-item in Scan Mode.

Workflow - Putaway

Navigate to 'For Putaway' section

From the Putaway screen, select Tote GRN to view Tote-based GRNs.

Tote Putaway has two modes:
  • Drop Mode (Scan Tote → Scan Bin → Complete)
  • Scan Mode (Scan Tote → Scan SKU/Serial → Scan Bin → Complete)
The mode is determined by continuousPutAwaySetting.

Drop Mode - GOOD Tote

  1. Scan the Tote.
  2. Scan the destination Bin.
  3. Swipe to complete.
The entire tote is shelved into the selected bin in one operation.

If the final putaway submission fails, the current session switches to Scan Mode. An invalid Tote or Bin validation error does not cause this switch.

Scan Mode - Non-Serialized

  1. Scan the Tote.

  2. Scan the SKU.

  3. Scan the destination Bin.
  4. Enter the quantity.

  5. Swipe to complete.
After successful submission, the screen returns to Scan SKU. Repeat until all items in the tote have been shelved.

Scan Mode - Serialized

  1. Scan the Tote.
  2. Scan the Serial.
  3. Scan the destination Bin.
  4. Swipe to complete.

Putaway is completed one unit per serial. After successful submission, the screen returns to Scan Serial.

Bad Tote

This is available when QcFailPutAway is disabled.
Flow:
  1. Scan the Tote.
  2. The system automatically empties the tote's GRN.
  3. No SKU, Serial, or Bin scan is required.
  4. On success, a confirmation is displayed and the screen closes.

Important Notes

  • Multiple totes can be used within one GRN.
  • Tote data is retained for an incomplete GRN.
  • A failed final Drop Mode submission switches the current session to Scan Mode.
  • This temporary switch does not change continuousPutAwaySetting.
  • A previously accepted serial cannot be scanned again during the same Serialized Scan Mode session.
