Overview

The Packing Station is used to scan and pack orders before they are ready for dispatch.
At the Packing Station, the user scans the products in the order and completes the packing process. Depending on the configured settings, the user may also select an inventory batch, capture packing material, or use Force Split for eligible orders.
Packing Stations can be configured for a warehouse location so that users can select the Packing Station they are working at when they start the packing process.

When to Use

Use the Packing Station when an order is ready for packing and the products need to be scanned and packed before dispatch. This is used during daily warehouse operations to:
  • Scan the products being packed for the order.
  • Select or scan the required batch when batch tracking is enabled.
  • Record packing material when it is configured.
  • Use Force Split when an eligible order needs to be partially packed.
  • Complete packing so the shipment can move to Ready to Dispatch.

Prerequisites

Before using the Packing Station workflow:
  • Batch Order Processing Mode (Mandatory) – Enables B2C order processing through Order Batches.
  • Activate Packing Station at B2C (Mandatory) – Enables the Packing Station workflow for B2C orders.
  • A Packing Station must be configured for the required location before it can be selected during processing.

Workflow

1. Configure a Packing Station

  1. Go to Masters > Location Master.

  2. Click Create Packing Station

  3. In the Configure Packing station window, click Download template.

  4. Enter the required details in the CSV file.

The CSV contains the following fields:
    • Location Key* – Mandatory
    • Packing Station Name* – Mandatory
    • Camera Feed ID – Optional

Camera Feed ID is used to access the camera through EasyVMS. If EasyVMS is not being used and only Packing Station configuration is required, Camera Feed ID can be left blank.

  5. Upload the completed CSV & Click Upload.

2. View and Manage Packing Stations

  1. Go to Masters > Location Master.

  2. Click the Play button against the required location.

  3. The configured Packing Stations are displayed.

  • Disable a Packing Station.
  • Edit Camera Feed ID.

3. Select a Packing Station During Processing

For B2C batch-wise processing, after an order is confirmed, click Packing Station from the Print tab and then click Start Scanning.

The system prompts the user to select the Packing Station they are logged into.

Select the required Packing Station and click Submit.

After submission, the selected station is displayed as the Current Packing Station.

If Enable Batch Code Tracking at Packing Station is enabled, select or scan the inventory batch code before continuing. Subsequent scans are validated against the selected inventory batch.

If Allow Splitting at Packing Station is enabled and the order is eligible for splitting, Force Split becomes available after scanning begins.

Click Force Split to process the scanned quantity and split the remaining unscanned quantity into a separate order for further processing.

If Packing Material Activation is configured for the Packing Station, the Packing Material window is displayed after all items are scanned or after Force Split.

The behavior of the Packing Material window depends on the configured Packaging Material Usage Type.

After the packing process is completed, the system:
  • Assigns the carrier.
  • Calls the configured courier partner.
  • Generates the AWB Number.
  • Generates the Shipping Label.
  • Generates the Invoice document.
  • Generates E-Invoice and E-Way Bill for Seller Accounts, where applicable.
  • Prints the generated documents according to the configured printer settings.
  • Moves the shipment to the Ready to Dispatch tab.

System Behavior

  • If the user changes their previously selected Packing Station, the system displays the previously active and newly selected Packing Station and asks for confirmation.
  • To confirm the change, select I Agree and click Proceed. Click Close to cancel the change.
  • The selected Packing Station remains associated with the user until it is changed or the user logs out.
  • Force Split is available only when Allow Splitting at Packing Station is enabled and the marketplace supports order splitting.
  • E-Invoice and E-Way Bill generation as part of this workflow is applicable to Seller Accounts and is not applicable to 3PL accounts.
