How to Set Up Printer Settings in EasyEcom Using QZ Tray

Overview

Printer Settings lets you configure the printers that EasyEcom uses for supported print operations through QZ Tray. Once configured, the selected printer settings are automatically loaded whenever you open the Printer Settings page, provided QZ Tray is running.

When to Use This Article

Use this article if:
  • You are configuring Printer Settings for the first time.
  • You want to update the printers used by EasyEcom.
  • The Printer Settings page keeps loading.
  • Printers are not appearing in the Printer Settings page.
  • You want to remove an existing printer configuration.

Prerequisites

Before configuring Printer Settings:
  • Java (JDK) is required for QZ Tray to process print commands. If Java (JDK) is not installed on your system, download and install the Windows 64-bit version before installing QZ Tray.
    Download:

  • If QZ Tray is not installed, download and install it from the official QZ Tray website before proceeding.
Download QZ Tray from the official website:
    https://qz.io/download/
  • Ensure QZ Tray is running before opening the Printer Settings page.
Info
Install Java (JDK) first, and then install QZ Tray.
If QZ Tray is closed, the Printer Settings page remains in a loading state until QZ Tray is started.

To verify that QZ Tray is running:

  1. Click the Show hidden icons (^) icon from the Windows taskbar.
  2. Verify that the QZ Tray icon is visible in the system tray.

Configure Printer Settings

Step 1: Open Printer Settings

  1. Log in to EasyEcom.
  2. Click the Settings (⚙️) icon from the top-right corner.

  1. Select Printer Settings.

Step 2: Select QZ Tray

From the Configuration dropdown, select QZ Tray.

If this is the first time QZ Tray is being configured, EasyEcom requests permission to communicate with applications installed on your system. Click Allow.

If you accidentally clicked Block, enable Apps on device and Pop-ups and redirects from your browser settings before trying again.
  • Apps on device
  • Pop-ups and redirects

Step 3: Authorize QZ Tray

After browser access is allowed, QZ Tray displays an authorization window.
  1. Select Remember this decision.
  2. Click Allow.

InfoSelecting Remember this decision prevents the authorization window from appearing every time EasyEcom communicates with QZ Tray.
Once the authorization is complete, the available printer settings are loaded automatically.

Step 4: Configure Printers

  1. Once the printer settings are loaded, configure the required printer settings.
  2. The printer dropdowns display the printers installed on the local system that are detected through QZ Tray.
  3. If the required printer is not listed, verify that it is installed on the local system before configuring Printer Settings.
  4. After selecting the required configuration, click Save.
  5. EasyEcom displays a confirmation message after the settings are saved successfully.

The saved configuration is loaded automatically whenever the Printer Settings page is opened, provided QZ Tray is running.

Remove Printer Settings

To remove the saved printer configuration:
  1. Open Printer Settings.
  2. Click Clear Printer Settings.
A confirmation window appears.
  1. Select I Agree!
  2. Click Confirm.

After the configuration is removed, the Printer Settings page returns to its initial state where only the Configuration dropdown is displayed.

If Something Doesn't Work

Printer Settings page keeps loading

If the Printer Settings page continues loading and the printer settings do not appear:
  • Verify that QZ Tray is running.
  • If QZ Tray is not running, start the application.
  • Open the Printer Settings page again.
  • If the issue persists, reload QZ Tray from the Windows system tray and try again.

Printers are not visible

The printer dropdowns display the printers installed on the local system through QZ Tray.
If the required printer is not available:
  • Verify that the printer is installed on the system.
  • Ensure QZ Tray is running.
  • Reload QZ Tray if required and open the Printer Settings page again.

Browser permission was blocked

If EasyEcom cannot communicate with QZ Tray, verify that the following permissions are enabled for the EasyEcom website:
  • Apps on device
  • Pop-ups and redirects
Then open the Printer Settings page again.

FAQs

1. Why do I see permission windows while configuring QZ Tray?
The browser and QZ Tray request permission the first time EasyEcom connects to the locally installed QZ Tray application.
Selecting Remember this decision before clicking Allow prevents the QZ Tray authorization window from appearing during future use.

2. Why isn't my printer listed?
EasyEcom displays the printers installed on the local system through QZ Tray. If the required printer is not listed, verify that the printer is installed on the system and QZ Tray is running.

3. Do I need to configure Printer Settings every time?
No. Once the configuration is saved, EasyEcom loads the saved configuration automatically whenever the Printer Settings page is opened, as long as QZ Tray is running.
